About the Center The California Center for the Book is a nonprofit reading promotion agency that provides services and resources to librarians throughout the state. We develop and support local and statewide programs that celebrate California's rich literary heritage. The Center is part of a network of state Centers affiliated with The Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, and we are an agency of the California State Library. The California Center for the Book is supported by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian. |
